True, it has been a long time since my last entry. In the passing time, however, I have gained quite a bit of perspective in how I operate and interact with those around me; on social, personal and professional levels, alike. Sometimes, we do not fully realize our true value until it is put to the test, or all together compromised. Thus, ignites the power to say, the courage to do and the wisdom to be: YOU.
Over the last two months, I have been immersed in the waves of life, be it rehearsals, gatherings, impromptu meetings and, or course, the ole day job. Doing my best at (what I thought was) balancing my time between these ventures, I almost left out the most important element and common connector: ME. While there is nothing wrong with keeping active, staying productive and making things happen, one must not forget to take care of home. Home = Self. Trying to be everybody's everything works against he who is nothing to himself. That, I have learned the hard way.
More recently, I have faced the challenge - no, the opportunity to understand my value, while reviving a role in one of my favorite original pieces. The first time around was pure magic, while this iteration showed me how to take what I love and adapt to unconventional circumstances. In the end, the production was very well received by its audiences; I merely carried the internal happenings and almost allowed it to affect my prowess. I, ultimately, walked away glad for upholding business etiquette and seeing the commitment through, while also being aware of what will and what should not occur again. Nothing lost, at all, though. If anything, these are the fibers that are woven into growth and evolution. If not for this, I may not fully know
When Opportunity Recognizes True Humility.
