The hesitation to speak
for fear of being silenced. The reluctance to do for fear of being blocked. The inability to emote for fear of being numbed. So just keep it in the mind Hold in every word, every action every feeling. Hold every bit of it hostage Imprison the freest part of you so you don't become a "statistic" The do-right, fist-pumping politic The speech-giving altruistic The Fallen Leader The rising Martyr Someone's Hope His Inspiration Her Hero Their adversary Our Future No. No, contain yourself and remain neutral Let "them" blame the "they" who took away "our" dignity. Cause you have all you need, yes? Yes. So why create any (more) enemies, yes? Stay in your home Turn up your TV Tune out the world Let it all dissolve on its own Put your efforts on the shelf All the while, war within yourself About yourself, no? No. Convince yourself that the battle isn't yours Remind yourself of what happened to those before You who spoke up Stepped out Yes, remember them so you can Protect yourself from demise, yes? Yes. Ignore the war in disguise The war in your mind that cries out and screams That fights to be FREE.
