Destiny. Chance. Fate. Happenstance. Divine Intervention. There are a plethora of names for the moment when, against whatever odds placed or imagined, a seemingly magical occurrence sweeps us off our feet; in the midst of despair, we are rescued and redeemed, assured and encouraged (or reminded) to have faith in the possibilities life offers. In recent events, both experienced and witnessed, how can I not noticed the varying examples of that notion..?
Most recently, I watched the enormously surprising change in trend during Super Bowl 51, this past Sunday. The Falcons clearly set the tone and owned the game...until, sadly, they didn't. As sure as the flip of a coin, I watched how the Patriots made a triumphantly epic comeback from a 3-21 defeat, to a 34-28 anomaly; including the fact of having to enter into overtime. Looking back, it would seem as if the game were rigged - wait, that sounds familiar... - yet viewers witnessed, play by play, the paradigm shift on the field. if that isn't a testament to the assurance of change, I don't know what else is needed to convince us. Recently, I had the unforgettable opportunity to watch myself on the big screen, at the Sundance Film Festival. As surreal as it was, I couldn't help but track the events, the footsteps in life that led up to that very moment. There I was, last year, an Actor striving to "make it," wondering why I went such a long period of time booking my own work, but not booking any of the projects I was being sent out for by my then-Agent. Then, lo and behold, came [TIME: The Kalief Browder Story], and I just fell right into the groove of the process. Everything that I had been working for, struggling through and pondering about prepared me for this experience, without my realizing so. Be it God, The Universe, Law of Attraction, The Powers That Be, it happened. No matter my worries, self-imposed shortcomings, doubts...it happened. And even when it did, I had no idea I would be meeting the people I have, since then, or that it would end up screening at Sundance *mind blows*. Does that mean all my concerns, career-related and otherwise, have been solved forever and ever? Does that mean I shall "struggle" nevermore? Does that mean now I "have it made" from here on out? No, absolutely not. However, I rest assured in the greater possibilities to keep trending this kind of remarkable stride, in spite of the temporary hurdles, that life presents. I don't get big-headed or become invincible. I take it all in stride, keep my head up and steadfast to total manifestation of The Vision. One of the greatest lessons I learn daily, living in New York and pursuing my passion, is Purpose. That is and will always be among the greatest driving forces to the assurance of goals manifested. Surely, anything - and I do mean anything - is possible. But, without Purpose, we drift in circles, left with shallow desires, empty aspirations. May we continue this year with Purpose and Conviction, triumphant and assured in the fruitful possibilities, in spite of any opposing elements. This is, indeed, Our TIME! Until very soon... |
