Recently, I embarked on a 30-day "clean-eating" journey, in an effort to detox my system and maximize natural energy. In doing research, I got to learn what is defined as "clean eating," according to the general society. What I found were restrictive systems based on Paleo-dieting, veganism and partial-starvation. Huh? Nooo, that's not my journey.
Five days in and I'm having to realize that this is my journey, not that of certain groups of people who got the nod to determine who eats, what, when and how. My journey is about giving my by body a rest from those foods that are injected with mounds of sugar and words I can barely pronounce, let alone know the definition of, or how it benefits my body. Now I'm no scientist, dietician, nor nutritionist, by any means. I've simply been living in this body of mine for 30 years, and feel like I have at least an inkling as to how it operates, what it likes, what it craves and what it needs. So, ultimately, I am the one who can readily decide what is for me and what I can do without for a while. That's smart-eating. With this renewed gift of knowledge - and 25 days to go - I already have a whole new outlook on how to walk this road and feed this journey, without feeling like I have to exist in a bubble to "protect" myself from myself. Remember, nobody challenged me to any of the pre-existing dieting trends out there. This was an act of my own doing, with the purpose of eating more balanced meals, in lieu of quick-snacking on the same 5 foods for days (and sometimes weeks) at a time. Ahh, sweet understanding, in its most natural form. Happy eating! #SmithDonnellE #LetMeBeMe #health #food #goodeating #nutrition #2015 #goals #aspirations
